Hard to believe that twenty years ago David Thomas and Andrew Hunt published the seminal guidebook The Pragmatic Programmer. Full of hard won knowledge from the programming trenches, it encapsulated a vast array of practical wisdom in a short number of concise lessons. Many programming books have taken up temporary residence on my bookshelf in that time, but this is the only one to stay there.
Now available in a twentieth anniversary edition, what's impressive is not how much has changed with the book but how much has stayed the same. In a profession that prides it self on moving fast, its reassuring to know the guiding principles remain constant.
